#73 Passepartout Passport (7)
21x25 cm each. Installation dimensions variable | Filler, oak frame
About
Passepartout is a series of grey monochrome paintings apart from a white rim. It resembles an artwork with a passe-partout where the images is missing. It deals with the perception that the image we see inside our minds when we look at the world, is actually covering the reality as it is in itself.
The dimensions of the grey area in this work matches the size of a passport within the european union. The number of paintings in the original series is the same as the member states at the time when they were made (28).
Note
The works in the series is for sale individually. If purchased in a smaller group they can be displayed in clusters of variable sizes as shown, or in any other manner.
Template
Template is an array of works made by using pieces of wooden plates as templates. They function a bit as a mould or matrix for the finished work. The plates are attached inside the frame and after the first layer of filler had dried they are removed. The remaining empty spaces are filled with filler of a different colour.
Reminiscent of Richard Serra's Verb List I try to use simple and clearly defined actions to shape the filler in my works. This way there is always non-cognitive aspects of the production process.
